I love Synchronicity

Diana Delaney

Last night in my dreams I brushed up awkwardly and by accident against a man who looked slightly like Dave Grohl, and it felt a little sparkly. The man who looked similar was an environmentalist or an ecologist working with a group of friendly and awesome people relocating snapping turtles from the roadside. This video came up in my YouTube feed and was released today by Art Support. I love synchronicity as much as I love Art Support!

About Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) Podcast

Diana Delaney

ABOUT FAMILY SCAPEGOATING ABUSE (FSA): Adult Child Podcast w/ Rebecca C. Mandeville, LMFT - Part One

Did you know that family scapegoating can happen in any dysfunctional family system - not just a narcissistic one? Andrea Ashley of 'Adult Child Podcast' interviews Psychotherapist and internationally recognized Family Systems expert Rebecca C. Mandeville @beyondfamilyscapegoatingabuse, author of 'Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed: Help and Hope for Adults in the Family Scapegoat Role'. In Part One of this four-part Podcast, Rebecca discusses what drew her to specialize in Family Systems and what led to her initiating her research on what she eventually named, 'Family Scapegoating Abuse' (FSA). FSA's relationship with intergenerational trauma and complex trauma (C-PTSD) is also addressed, as well as blatant (overt) versus subtle (covert) forms of FSA.

0:00
- Intro 1:20 - Andrea shares her connection to Rebecca's work. 2:15 - What is a family Genogram? 3:25 - Family Systems versus Internal Family Systems. 4:40 - FSA versus narcissistic abuse. 5:48 - On coining the term 'family scapegoating abuse' (FSA). 6:15 - FSA and complex trauma (C-PTSD). 8:00 - No Escape: How children develop complex trauma. 9:34 - When scapegoating isn't obvious (Andrea's experience) 10:55 - Subtle versus blatant forms of family scapegoating. 11:28 - Examples of overt, blatant scapegoating. 11:57 - The Narcissistic Martyr Parent Ploy 12:40 - Covert scapegoating of the family Empath. 13:35 - Getting "tarred and feathered" energetically by your family.

The SCAPEGOAT'S BURDEN: Carrying the FAMILY SHADOW - Part 2 of the Adult Child Podcast

[Part 2 of 4]: In DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY SYSTEMS that are driven by the Family Projective Identification Process, the Empath or Highly Sensitive (HSP) child / adult child may find themselves in the 'Scapegoat' role due to their becoming the repository for the family's 'disowned parts' (e.g., individual and systemic trauma, anxiety, pain) - a dynamic that can happen in ANY social group where unconscious dynamics and processes are at play. Tune in as Andrea Ashley of the Adult Child Podcast and Rebecca C. Mandeville, psychotherapist and author of 'Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed', continue to explore how scapegoating can occur in dysfunctional, traumatized families - even when there are no narcissists involved.

0:00 - Intro 0:22 - Defining the Family Projective Identification Process. 1:01 - The scapegoat carries the 'Shadow' for the 'tribe'. 2:04 - Scapegoating and the family Empath / Truth-teller 2:45 - How children develop 'fawn' / submit behaviors. 3:09 - The 'fight' response in scapegoated children. 3:46 - The "Cry for Help" trauma response. 4:14 - Scapegoat as potential source of healing for family. 4:59 - Scapegoat as carrier of intergenerational trauma. 5:45 - Living the distorted 'scapegoat narrative'. 6:19 - Scapegoating and the term 'Identified Patient' (IP). 9:07 - Why family therapy can be re-traumatizing to the family scapegoating / IP. 11:20 - Setting limits and terms regarding familial re-connection. 12:57 - Why scapegoating family members rarely apologize. 13:22 - Parents who realize they are scapegoating their child.

Affirmations for Adult Survivors of Family Scapegoating Abuse (FSA) - Vol. 1

Diana Delaney

Welcome! Have you been rejected, shamed, bullied, and blamed by your family-of-origin - perhaps since early childhood - and struggle to understand why they would target you in this way? This channel specifically focuses on understanding and recovering from scapegoating that is fueled by the Family Projective Identification Process, which is similar to a shared family 'psychosis' (i.e., believing things that are not true) and can occur in highly dysfunctional families with unaddressed intergenerational trauma. It was created for both FSA Adult Survivors and Clinicians. It is NOT a substitute for clinical assessment or treatment. About me: My name is Rebecca C. Mandeville, and I'm a Psychotherapist and Certified Complex Trauma Professional; Family Systems researcher; and the author of the best-selling book on what I named 'family scapegoating abuse' (FSA), 'Rejected, Shamed, and Blamed: Help and Hope for Adults in the Family Scapegoat Role'. FSA occurs in dysfunctional family systems and is an insidious form of 'invisible' (psycho-emotional) abuse. After 20 years of clinical practice - including running Family Programs in addiction treatment clinics - I've worked with hundreds of dysfunctional families and scapegoated adult survivors where the Family Projective Identification Process was clearly at play. Understanding this type of projection can be life-changing for many FSA adult survivors who struggle to comprehend what happened to them in their families, and what type of abuse they are suffering from.

Playful and Direct Wisdom: Art King Status Style

Diana Delaney

I love how Basquiat skillfully uses his wisdom, knowledge and experience to playfully and humbly educate the interviewer who is unknowingly and annoyingly full of microaggressions, and not so micro aggressions.

The following was borrowed from Art Support, which I encourage you to follow:

Are you affected by what other people say about your art? Jean-Michael Basquiat has some words of wisdom on how to ignore what the critics say, and express yourself authentically.

Jean-Michael Basquiat Biography Many people think that Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 -1988), who was born in New York, was one of the most important artists of the 1980s and 1990s. Basquiat tried out street art when he was a young adult. He was known as SAMO in the downtown art scene of New York City. In 1981, he was part of a groundbreaking show called "New York/New Wave" at MoMA's PS1 branch in Long Island City. During his short, high-profile career, the artist looked at issues like what it means to be black in America, the effects of colonization, and the effects of consumerism.

I’m always willing to listen to a man who goes with the logic that god and creator is a woman.

The Power & Empowerment of Teaching and Learning Through Ceremony and Meaning Making

Lyla June Johnston | Indigenous social technologies via Regenerators

This clip is from the session with Lyla June Johnston on indigenous wisdom as a blueprint for regenerative leadership, as part of the Regenerative Leadership Journey 2022.

Lyla June Johnston is a public speaker, artist, scholar and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages from Taos, New Mexico. Her messages focus on Indigenous rights, supporting youth, traditional land stewardship practices and healing inter-generational and inter-cultural trauma.

This has so many layers of depth after watching Lyla June's discussion of Indigenous Social Technologies on Regenerators youtube channel yesterday. The potency and power of female empowerment is bringing me to happy tears and tears of gratitude, the power of such beauty is humbling in honoring the strength in matrilineal lines. -Diana Eileen Delaney

Dr. Gabor Mate on the Myth of "Normal" via Mindfulness 360 - Center For Mindfulness

Diana Delaney

Black Friday

Capitalism as a Barometer of Normalcy

is an Ill Advised Model for Sanity, Wellness and Health

Physician Dr. Gabor Mate began his interview by addressing the 'myth of normal' that divides us into the normal and the abnormal with pathological traits. Dr. Mate mentions that he doesn't see a division, but a continuum where mental distress, [to] some degree, is present in all of us. He explains how mental distress and pathology are largely a result of a materialist culture that "idealizes individualism and ignores our emotional needs".

Capitalism is Killing Us

Gabor Maté CM (born January 6, 1944) is a Hungarian-Canadian physician and author.[1] He has a background in family practice and a special interest in childhood development, trauma[2] and potential lifelong impacts on physical and mental health including autoimmune disease, cancer, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),[3] addictions and a wide range of other conditions.

Maté's approach to addiction focuses on the trauma his patients have suffered and looks to address this in their recovery.[4] In his book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, Maté discusses the types of trauma suffered by persons with substance use disorders and how this affects their decision making in later life.

He believes in the connection between mind and body health. He has authored four books exploring topics including ADHD, stress, developmental psychology, and addiction. He is a regular columnist for the Vancouver Sun and The Globe and Mail.

Lakota Historian Nick Estes on Thanksgiving, Settler Colonialism & Continuing Indigenous Resistance

Diana Delaney

Lakota historian Nick Estes talks about Thanksgiving and his book "Our History Is the Future," and the historic fight against the Dakota Access pipeline at Standing Rock. "This history ... is a continuing history of genocide, of settler colonialism and, basically, the founding myths of this country," says Estes, who is a co-founder of the Indigenous resistance group The Red Nation and a citizen of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Indigenous Voices are the most Valuable Voices Regarding Climate Change

Diana Delaney

We continue our coverage of the U.N. climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, by asking what Indigenous leaders at the frontlines of the climate crisis are calling for from world leaders. We speak to Andrea Ixchíu, a land defender from Guatemala, and Rosa Marina Flores Cruz, an Afro-Indigenous activist from Mexico, who are both part of the Futuros Indígenas collective. They discuss how their countries' megaprojects and big business are devastating Indigenous communities. "Green capitalism is affecting our communities. It's displacing people. It's creating violence," says Ixchíu. Amid the murder and persecution of climate activists across Latin America, "defend[ing] the land is one of the most difficult and dangerous activities that we can do," says Cruz. Democracy Now! is broadcasting live from COP27, the U.N. climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where hundreds of activists protested outside the plenary hall Thursday to demand climate justice. We speak to two Indigenous activists and land defenders at the summit, Eriel Tchekwie Deranger and Tom Goldtooth. "It is frontline communities, land defenders and Indigenous peoples that have experienced the loss of our territories at the hands of oil and gas and extractivism," says Deranger, executive director of Indigenous Climate Action and member of the Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation. "Colonialism has to be addressed in these hallways, and there's been lack of political will around that," says Goldtooth, executive director of the Indigenous Environmental Network and member of the Diné and Dakota nations. Brazilian President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva addressed world leaders at the U.N. climate conference in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Wednesday, vowing to end deforestation of the Amazon rainforest and create a ministry to represent Indigenous peoples in his government. Brazil's new approach to climate change aims to reverse outgoing far-right President Jair Bolsonaro's policies that have devastated Indigenous lands. "With Lula's support, we can fight against deforestation and support Indigenous peoples in protecting and confronting the threats they face, including assassinations and human rights violations," says Gregório Mirabal, an Indigenous leader from the Venezuelan Amazon. His colleague Atossa Soltani, board president of Amazon Watch, translated for him.
